Professor of Biochemistry at Uppsala University in Sweden and a specialist in enzymology and biosensor-based drug discovery. Helena Danielson has applied biophysical methods for enzymology and drug discovery. Her current focus is on discovery of leads targeting epigenetic enzymes and establishing a fundamental understanding the dynamics of molecular interactions. She has extensive experience of the commercial drug discovery process through 30 years of collaborative research with partners in pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry. An important collaboration with Biacore AB was initiated in 1997 and has resulted in adapting biosensor technology for drug discovery and the development of new biosensor products for the drug discovery industry. Academic career: Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at Lund University (1982), Fulbright scholarship (1982-84) and Master of Science in Biochemistry (1984) at the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, USA. Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Stockholm University (1987). Researcher at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm (1987-88). At Uppsala University since 1988. Professor of Biochemistry from 2002. Co-founder of Beactica AB (2006), Chief Scientific Officer until 2014. Board member and scientific advisor.
